Charlotte City Championship

The Charlotte City Championship is BACK!

Covid-19 has inflicted havoc on high school sports, especially lacrosse. With the high school seasons ending in March this year, the Carolina Lacrosse Association is relaunching the City Championship, giving high school teams the opportunity to continue the spring season and play for a citywide championship!

At the Carolina Lacrosse Association, we recognize the importance of a player’s high school experience over all other sport opportunities and we have always supported and respected the high school coaches efforts in building their lacrosse communities.  We recognize that with school sports comes the attachment, pride, and loyalty that can be built between the school athletes and their communities. The Charlotte City Championship was built for the high school players and their coaches.

Last played in 2009, the Charlotte City Championship pitted the top private schools vs the top public schools in the Queen City and crowned a mid-season city champion.

How the 2021 City Championship will work.  Two divisions.  Area AA featuring the top “big schools” in the area, and Area A featuring the top “small schools” in the area. A max of six teams per division.  All teams will be scheduled five games (every game is a playoff game) over two weeks at either the Sportsplex @ Matthews, Elon Park, or OrthoCarolina Sportsplex.

Top two teams advance to the championship games on Sunday, May 16 at the Stadium Field at the Sportsplex @ Matthews.  The City Championship finals will precede the NC Great 38 All-Star Lacrosse Game.

The Action starts on Tuesday, May 4th. Register today.
